Understanding True Health and Wellbeing
"Healthy."
It's a word we hear almost every day.
We're told to eat healthier, move more, lose weight and make better choices. But have you ever stopped to think about what being healthy actually means?
If you asked ten different people, you'd probably get ten different answers.
Some would say it's about eating well.
Others would say it's about exercising regularly.
Some would simply say it's feeling happy.

The truth?
They're all right.
Health isn't one thing.
It's everything working together.
As a personal trainer, I often meet women who come to me because they want to lose weight. But something amazing happens once we start working together.
They begin sleeping better.
They have more energy.
Their confidence grows.
Everyday tasks become easier.
The scales might change…
…but they're rarely the biggest success.
That's because health is about so much more than a number.
So... What Does Being Healthy Actually Look Like?
Think of your health like building a house.
You wouldn't expect a house to stand without strong foundations.
Our health works exactly the same way.
When one part becomes weak, the others often feel it too.
That's why I don't just focus on exercise with my clients.
I look at the whole picture.
Here are the five areas that make up our overall wellbeing.

Physical Health
This is usually the first thing people think about.
Exercise.
Nutrition.
Sleep.
Looking after your body.
Physical health allows us to do the things we love, whether that's chasing the kids around the backyard, carrying the shopping, walking the dog or simply getting through the day with more energy.
The good news?
You don't need to spend hours in the gym.
You don't need to be perfect.
You simply need to keep showing up.
Those small choices add up.
Mental Health
Life is busy.
Between work, family, finances and trying to remember what day it is, it's no wonder so many women feel mentally exhausted.
Mental health is about how we think, cope with challenges and manage stress.
When we're mentally overwhelmed, healthy choices often become harder.
Sometimes improving your health starts with slowing down rather than doing more.
Emotional Health
Life isn't always sunshine and rainbows.
Being emotionally healthy doesn't mean you're happy every minute of the day.
It means recognising your emotions, understanding them and learning healthy ways to respond.
When we look after our emotional wellbeing, we're often better equipped to manage stress, relationships and life's unexpected challenges.
And that has a positive flow-on effect to every other part of our health.
Social Health
Here's one people don't often think about.
The people around us shape many of our habits.
Our family.
Our friends.
Our workplace.
Our community.
Think about your own life.
Do the people around you support your goals?
Do they celebrate your wins?
Or do they make you feel guilty for putting yourself first?
The relationships we build influence far more than we realise.
Surrounding yourself with supportive people can make healthy living much easier.
Spiritual Health
This doesn't have to mean religion.
For many people, it's simply about finding peace.
Finding purpose.
Finding a moment of calm in an otherwise busy world.
That could be sitting quietly with a coffee.
Walking through nature.
Reading a book.
Meditating.
Praying.
Whatever fills your cup.
Looking after this part of ourselves often reduces stress and helps improve both our mental and physical wellbeing.
Why Does Health Look Different for Everyone?
One thing I've learnt over the years is that no two people start from the same place.
Some women have supportive families.
Some don't.
Some have easy access to healthy food and healthcare.
Others have to work incredibly hard just to make healthy choices possible.
Things like education, income, culture, employment and access to healthcare all influence our health.
That's why I never compare one woman's journey with another.
We're all walking different paths.
Your only comparison should be with the person you were yesterday.
What Health Means to Me
After years of studying, training and working with women from all walks of life, this is what I believe.
Health isn't about perfection.
It isn't about eating salads every day.
It isn't about punishing yourself in the gym.
It's about building a body that helps you enjoy life.
Having more energy.
Sleeping better.
Feeling stronger.
Managing stress.
Growing in confidence.
And creating habits that actually fit your life instead of taking it over.
That's real health.
Where Do You Start?
The answer is…

Anywhere.
Go for a walk.
Cook one healthy meal.
Drink another glass of water.
Go to bed thirty minutes earlier.
Take five minutes for yourself.
Pick one thing.
Not ten.
Just one.
Because health isn't built overnight.
It's built one small choice at a time.
And that's exactly why my coaching focuses on creating sustainable habits rather than chasing perfection.
Because the little things are the things that last.
Small changes. Sustainable habits. Real results.
